On March 24, 1991 WrestleMania VII took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The main event saw Hulk Hogan defeat Sgt. Slaughter (with General Adnan) for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship as part of a storyline in which Slaughter portrayed an Iraqi sympathizer during the United States' involvement in the Gulf War. For the Hogan/Slaughter main event match Alex Trebek was the special ring announcer, Regis Philbin was a special commentator and Marla Maples rang the bell to start the
