Support for President Trump's plans to end birthright citizenship has dropped in recent months among the GOP, a new poll showed.

The right-wing justices on Thursday were amenable to the Trump administration’s bid to pare back universal injunctions, a type of relief where lower-court judges block government policies for the whole country and not just the parties who brought the case.

Federal courts have so far uniformly blocked President Donald Trump’s order seeking to end birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to someone in the country illegally.

Norman Wong, whose great-grandfather brought the landmark case that enshrined birthright citizenship, says the new fight over the issue is "for the soul of our country."
