After Saturday’s 4-0 loss to the Athletics, the Royals held a players-only meeting in hopes of jump-starting a team in an early June swoon. But on Sunday, the Royals lost to the A’s 3-2 to finish their six-game homestand 0-6.

The Athletics have a formidable offense to their credit, although they still lose a lot because of their dreadful pitching, but that hasn’t been the case this weekend so far. For a team that at one point had lost 19 of 20 and had only 6 wins since May 10th before this series,

The Athletics have taken advantage of the scuffling Kansas City Royals to find some needed road success. On Sunday afternoon, the A's will try to sweep a three-game set and send the Royals to a winless six-game homestand.

The Royals (34-38) fell victim to their second straight sweep, falling 3-2 to the Athletics (29-44) at Kauffman Stadium.

The 34-35 Kansas City Royals are happy to see the Yankees leave town and welcome the 26-44 Athletics. At one point earlier this season, the Athletics were showing some scrappy, feisty play and were threatening the Mariners and Astros in the AL West. But they have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, like the Royals, and have faltered.

Nothing came of the scoring chance. Pasquantino flew out to end the potential threat. The A’s (28-44) earned a 4-0 victory and a series win. The Royals have lost five straight games, all at home. It was the latest entry in the Royals’ 2025 story. The club has been haunted by missed opportunities and it’s affecting the entire lineup.
