Whole and baby carrots, many sold under the store brands of the nation’s largest grocery sellers, have been recalled because they might be involved in an E. coli outbreak that already has killed one person.

As of Sunday, 39 people in 18 states have been infected, resulting in 15 hospitalizations and one death in California.

An E. coli outbreak has infected more than 39 people who ate a type of organic carrots across 18 states, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One person has died.
