Patrick McDonald just locked in his Farmers Insurance Open 2025 best bets for this week's PGA Tour event in San Diego

Eleven players have pulled out from this week's event since Sunday, including popular players Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris, Gary Woodland and Akshay Bhatia.

Max Homa's sixth and most recent PGA Tour victory came at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open. His bid for a second title in three years started well enough with a tee shot into the fairway at the par-4 first on the South Course.

Playing the waiting game on the alternate list can be tough but guys know they have to make the most of the chances when they come along.

That's why the Tour has worked with CBS since 2022 to start the Farmers Insurance a day early. Golf Channel will air the first two rounds from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and CBS will air the third round from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and the final round from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday.

Will Zalatoris is the latest star PGA Tour player to withdraw from the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Zalatoris pulled out of the tournament Wednesday morning before his first-round tee time. A reason was not given for his WD. Ryan Moore will replace him in the field.

At that point, the tour was in a bind to fill the field of 156 and wasn’t able to, because most of the alternates had left the area. Ryan Moore was originally listed as a replacement for Zalatoris, and then he said he couldn’t play.
