AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Tavari Johnson had 16 points in Akron's 77-72 win over Kent State on Friday, clinching the Mid-American Conference regular season championship with two games remaining.

Toledo takes on the Akron Zips after Javan Simmons scored 21 points in Toledo's 87-74 loss to the Buffalo Bulls. The teams meet Tuesday for the second time this season.
