Patrick Mahomes underwent surgery on Monday night to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. It wasn’t the only ligament injured, after all. Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Mahomes also tore the LCL in his left knee. Rapoport adds that, while it complicates the recovery, it doesn’t necessarily extend the timeline for a return beyond nine months.
On the NFC side, Green Bay Packers trade acquisition Micah Parsons suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos. Parsons has totaled 12.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in his first season with the Packers.
All good things, and even great things, must come to an end, but the derailment in Kansas City may be a case of cause and effect as Mahomes has repeatedly had to elevate a flawed team and structure to the greatest heights.
