Ipswich Town were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday following a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United, with the visitors reduced to 10 men after Ben Johnson was sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the first half.

Newcastle United put last weekend’s heavy defeat at Aston Villa behind them but they were made to work hard to beat Ipswich Town, who were relegated to the Championship. Newcastle spent long periods camped in the visitors’ half but just could not break through for most of the opening 45 minutes.
