The State Board of Elections is now temporarily blocked from certifying Allison Riggs as the winner in the Supreme Court election while the court considers her opponent’s challenge of 60,000 ballots.

The challenge to North Carolina’s Supreme Court election grows more complicated by the day. Voters caught up in the turmoil have questions about how the race got here and how it may be resolved.

Attorney Craig Schauer, who represents Republican state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin, went before a Wake County judge earlier this week without opposing counsel present to get an order blocking certification of the election.
