Knoxville Mayor as well as spokesperson with the Knoxville Fire Department and Knoxville Police Department shared insights on how city agencies have been preparing and will be navigating as winter weather prepares to move into the area.

State, county and city crews are preparing as much as possible, even before the snow begins to fall. The National Weather Service says it could come as early as 8 a.m. Jan. 10, though the winter storm warning doesn't start until 10 a.m.

Nashville and Middle Tennessee are expected to get between six and eight inches of snow Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm warning has been issued for all of Middle Tennessee. While most areas could receive between three to six inches of snow on Friday, some areas could see as much as seven inches.

The storm will bring "widespread snow accumulations" with a mixture of sleet and freezing rain possible south of Interstate 40 with "light ice accumulation possible."
