Passenger traffic hit a record in 2024, helped by a bumper December and holiday travel season, with 3 million more passengers than in the previous record of year of 2019.

London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) has ended a record-breaking 2024 with passenger figures soaring past the airport’s previous highest figure set in 2019. Additionally, the airport’s terminals saw their highest-ever month in December 2024, with over seven million travelers using the airport throughout the holiday month.

Heathrow notched a record number of passengers in 2024, but the airport is already setting its sights on a fresh heights for 2025.

This record-breaking number is 4.7 million more than in 2023 and 3 million more than the previous annual record in 2019, before the pandemic. Heathrow forecasts it will serve 84.2 million passengers this year.
