Garmin is ready to take the wraps off its latest fitness tracking smartwatches at CES 2025. The Instinct 3 lineup marks the first time the series has featured an AMOLED display and comes joined by a new solar-powered option.

I just got my hands on the new Garmin Instinct 3, launched at CES 2025, and promptly slapped it on my wrist to put the fitness tracking chops to the test: logging my entire day on the tradeshow floor, bopping from product demo to product demo while dodging meander bodies under harsh lighting.

The setup of the Instinct 3 range mirrors the Garmin Fenix 8 range, which also has solar, AMOLED and a cheaper E model. The Instinct 3 is likely to draw some customers away from the flagship Fenix 8, which is much more expensive, though does offer some key upgrades including offline maps.

The much-anticipated Garmin Instinct 3 is definitely the biggest fitness news of CES 2025. Garmin has brought the third iteration of its popular outdoor smartwatch to bear with new-to-the-range solar technology Garmin says offers five times more battery life than the Instinct 2 Solar.

Garmin produces more variations on the smartwatch theme than anyone else, and the Instinct series is the range that prioritizes battery life first and foremost (with a little help from solar charging).
