Cooper Flagg, welcome to the Dallas Mavericks. Against the odds, the Mavericks won the NBA draft lottery Monday with just a 1.8% chance of getting the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft.
There are two rounds in the draft. The first round features 30 picks and the second round has 29. There are typically 30 picks per round, but the New York Knicks were docked their 2025 second-rounder after the league found they had tampered with Jalen Brunson leading up to 2022 free agency.
“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in the building,” said Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Welts, who on Jan. 1 succeeded the retired Cynt Marshall as CEO. During his 47-year career, Welts also has overseen business operations of the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors.
Duke's Cooper Flagg, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick, isn't the only promising talent in the 2025 NBA Draft class.
