The Vancouver Canucks took an early lead and got the win by committee, beating the New York Rangers 3-0 at Madison Square Garden. Thatcher Demko stopped all 23 shots he faced for the tenth shutout of his career.
Since Adam Fox went down with an upper-body injury, the Rangers’ five-forward first power-play unit has failed to score a single goal and has given up two shorthanded goals. In total, without Fox in the lineup, the power play has gone 2-22.
The Rangers could use another impactful forward and should make a big push for Canucks winger Kiefer Sherwood.

Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, the Canucks skated away 3-0 winners over the Blueshirts. They didn’t generate much on offence but still took the few chances they had and in their own end got a solid effort from goalie Thatcher Demko, who posted the Canucks’ first shutout since last February — a shutout by Demko over the Colorado Avalanche.
In goal, the Canucks will once again turn to Thatcher Demko, who is making his third-straight start. Demko has had some success against the Rangers during his career, as he has a record of 3-1-0 with a .935 save percentage. Demko's only loss against New York came earlier this year when the Rangers picked up a 2-0 victory at Rogers Arena.
