Matthew Huttle, a recently pardoned Jan. 6 Capitol rioter, was fatally shot by an Indiana deputy during a traffic stop this week.

A northwest Indiana man who was charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was shot and killed by an Indiana sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.

"During the traffic stop, the officer attempted to arrest the suspect when the suspect resisted," according to state police.

Matthew Huttle was shot by an Indiana sheriff's deputy days after receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump.

"He is somewhat distrustful of the government in general, but he did not know if the 2020 election was 'stolen' or not," his attorney said.
