Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt has been dealing with “a cranky back,” according to manager Aaron Boone, who indicated he does not believe the issue is significant. Schmidt tossed what Boone described as an “aggressive” flat-ground session on Wednesday.
Schmidt has yet to throw live batting practice in front of reporters this spring, as his back started flaring up following a Feb. 14 bullpen session.
