President Donald Trump is threatening to hold up a new stadium deal for Washington's NFL team if it does not restore its old name of the Redskins, which is considered offensive to Native Americans.
Trump announced on Sunday that “the Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team” and claimed that “there is a big clamoring for this.” A short time later, he threatened to prevent the team from building a new stadium in D.C. if the name wasn’t changed back to the offensive one.
