An evacuation order has been issued for all of Lake Piru Recreation Area and east to the Los Angeles County line, south to SR 126, west to Center Street.

A fast-moving wildfire that ignited in a canyon southeast of Lake Piru had burned more than 5,370 acres and prompted evacuations in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. The fire was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 in the 6700 block of Holser Canyon Road near Piru and quickly threatened ranches and other properties in the area.

The Canyon Fire, north of Los Angeles, has grown rapidly to nearly 5,000 acres in size, with thousands of people ordered to evacuate.
