A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a three-year-old girl was killed in a crash between a van and a tram in Manchester at the weekend. Rawal Rehman, of Lambton Road, Manchester, will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Greater Manchester Police said.

The girl, who died following the the incident involving a tram and a van, was named as Louisa 'Lulu' Palmisano, from Burnley. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said Rawal Rehman, 35, from Manchester, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The child was a pedestrian and was not travelling in either the tram or van during the collision on Mosley Street
