U.S. stock indexes were mixed in Wednesday's final hour of trading, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average moving away from its all-time closing high and investors positioning around technology-driven names.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit record all-time highs in 2025 with many of the components ending the year higher. Along with serving as a well-known barometer of overall market health, the index offers some of the top yielding blue-chip stocks.
The strong ISM Services PMI report provided additional support to stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is off to a strong start in 2026. With the index trading higher today, it's currently on pace for its best three-day start to the year in over a decade. Right now, the Dow is up about 2.
The Dow industrials have notched their best start to a year in more than two decades. The blue-chip index rose 2.9% through the first three trading days of 2026. That's the most it has gained in that period in 23 years.
U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 250 points on Monday. Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded up 0.54% to 48,641.58 while the NASDAQ gained 0.65% to 23,386.57. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.63% to 6,901.52.
The 25,000 level underneath there offers support as well, and I think this remains a market that you’re looking at dips as potential value.
