The Trump administration and the Treasury Department agreed to stop the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, from accessing taxpayer data within IRS systems, according to The Washington Post, the latest development around DOGE’s attempts to access federal data as part of an effort to reduce government spending.

The data system DOGE wants access to includes people’s bank account information, Social Security numbers — and whether they’re under investigation by the IRS.
