Washington Commanders should ‘absolutely’ return to ‘classic’ Redskins: Joe Concha
President Donald Trump has threatened to block the Washington Commanders's stadium deal in Washington, D.C., if they don't take back their original name.
The team left Washington for Landover, Maryland, in 1997, but DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and the team announced a deal in April to bring the Commanders back to D.C. at the site of the old Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium. Trump supported the deal at the time, but the proposal is stalled before the DC Council.
An Ohio state lawmaker backed President Donald Trump's push to have the Washington Commanders and Cleveland Guardians change their team names back.
