The Boston Red Sox today acquired left-handed pitcher Jake Bennett from the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handed pitcher Luis Perales. Bennett, 25, has posted a 2.67 ERA (41 ER/138.1 IP) with 137 strikeouts in 34 games (33 starts) across three levels in 2023 and 2025.

Right-hander Luis Perales has been acquired by Washington from Boston for left-hander Jake Bennett in an exchange of prospects recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In what should not come as much of a surprise, Paul Toboni made a trade with his old club, the Boston Red Sox. The trade itself is a bit surprising and a bit random. It is a prospect for prospect swap, with the Nationals trading Jake Bennett to the Red Sox for Luis Perales.
