The United Auto Workers union announced on Wednesday that members at Ford Motor Company's River Rouge tool and die unit will go on strike on Sept. 26 if an agreement is not reached.

The notice claims that they will strike on Thursday, Sept. 26 if local contract issues including job security, wage parity and work rules are not resolved.

The tool and die unit at Ford Motor Co.'s River Rouge complex will strike on Sept. 26 if local contract issues are not resolved, the UAW said.

More than a year has passed since the contract deadline for the local agreement between the Dearborn automaker and the unit of more than 500 workers.
