CEDAR RAPIDS — The city of Cedar Rapids has secured $25 million in federal funding for ongoing flood control efforts on the city’s northwest side.
Crews have searched “from the headwaters of the Guadalupe River to Canyon Lake and back,” and continue the “intensive search operations.”
Climate change has made extreme rainfall more common and more intense. But many flood risk maps have yet to catch up.
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect in Manitou Springs, and the city urges the public to seek higher ground immediately and avoid walking through floodwaters.
